VKernel Capacity Analyzer Services
Transformyx utilizes the #1 in Capacity Management for VMware and Microsoft virtualized environments - VKERNEL. Capacity Analyzer is an easy to deploy and use virtual appliance used by Systems Administrators to identify and fix performance problems in virtualized applications (VMs) and virtual environments running VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V. Ensure maximum application performance for virtualized mission critical applications with minimum capacity resources. |

How it Works
Capacity Analyzer is packaged as a virtual appliance so that it can easily be installed on VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V server in minutes. It collects capacity and performance metrics from VMware vCenter, Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager and Virtual Machine Manager. It then feeds the data into a Capacity Optimization Engine which analyzes thousands of data points across the entire virtual environment in order to:
-> Automatically profile each application workload (VM) and its consumption of CPU, memory, disk and disk I/O resources over time -> For each VM and for the virtual environment as a whole automatically build a performance model which identifies the root cause of performance problems and offers specific steps on how to resolve them -> Predict future performance problems in applications and across the virtual infrastructure using historic performance and capacity utilization data -> Notify systems administrators with predictive Capacity Alerts which give administrators many days, not minutes as with real time tools, to resolve impending performance problems -> Provide specific recommendations on where to deploy new VMs or change resource allocations in a virtual environment to maximize performance and capacity utilization. |

Identifies Current Performance Bottlenecks in Applications and Virtual Environment
Capacity Analyzer continuously collects and analyzes many CPU, memory, disk throughput and disk I/O latency statistics for every virtual machine (VM), host, resource pool, and datacenter. The analysis includes server side metrics as well as storage side metrics. The net result of the analysis is a specific list of performance problems in application VMs and host, clusters and resource pools with a clear explanation of what’s causing a performance problems and how to fix it. |

Predicts Future Capacity Constraints that Will Cause Performance Problems
Using sophisticated extrapolation techniques from historic performance and capacity data, Capacity Analyzer can accurately predict in how many days performance problems will develop in each application (VM), what will cause it (memory, CPU, I/O latency, etc) and how to resolve them. |
Automatic Capacity Alerts Help Prevent Performance Problems
Capacity Analyzer automatically baselines all applications (VMs) and the entire virtual environment to find current and predict future performance problems. Once it identifies problems it generates predictive Capacity Alerts that warn System Administrators days ahead of impending performance problems so that ample time is given to resolution and problem prevention. Capacity Alerts are customizable for every application VM and virtual environment. Alerts are sent using email or SNMP traps to your management console or to Microsoft’s Systems Center Operations Manager. |

Specific Actionable Recommendations
Capacity Analyzer’s intuitive interface allows users to easily navigate from alerts or the heat map to a detailed drill down explanation of performance issues. It provides a detailed explanation and then presents the action that will resolve the performance problem.

From Server to Storage
Capacity Analyzer is unique in its ability to analyze server to storage I/O including disk latency and throughput for Fibre Channel and ISCSI and throughput for NFS. |
New VM Deployment Capacity
Capacity Analyzer also examines the typical size of VMs deployed in the environment to present a Capacity Availability Map. This allows busy systems administrators to quickly determine where they can safely deploy new VMs with a clear understanding of the constraining resource. |

Supports Microsoft and VMware Environments
Capacity Analyzer can be installed on either a VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V server. For VMware environments it retrieves data from vCenter or ESX. For Microsoft environments, a connector is used to retrieve data from Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) and Systems Center Operations Manager (SCOM). Capacity Alerts can also be configured to send notification through Microsoft’s SCOM.
